Hear them roar and watch them soar!
Heritage Flight Museum is pleased to announce our 2026 Fly Day Schedule. We will host Fly Days on the following Saturdays: 18 April, 23 May, 13 June, 18 July, 5 September. Doors open 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. You know the drill: check back often, as flying is subject to change or cancellation when sudden circumstances arise without warning.
With many local aircraft museums closing or relocating, Heritage Flight Museum is now one of the very few places in our area to see the breathtaking spectacle of vintage warbirds in flight. From a single-ship fighter to a formation of T-6’s, there’s always something exciting going on. We feature aircraft from our own historic collection, which are joined on particular dates by aircraft from other local organizations. These events are not to be missed, it’s the best ticket in town!
We work with local air traffic to make sure that we don’t disrupt the other air traffic at Burlington and that we’re conducting our flights safely. Our pilots are careful to observe all the rules of the FAA and airport, and do their best to comply with the airport’s voluntary Good Neighbor Policy. Our aircraft may be ‘vintage,’ but rest assured that they are meticulously maintained and carefully flown. Our pilots have thousands of flight hours between them and more experience in these aircraft than most. We love our aircraft, the history that they represent, and the opportunity to share our passion with our visitors.
What to expect at Fly Days
- Schedule: the sequence of sorties at our Fly Days is subject to change at a moment’s notice due to many variables. We don’t post a schedule because it is very likely to change hour by hour. The best way to ensure you will see some great flying action is to be at the museum by one hour after the doors open and plan to stay at least 3-4 hours. We typically fly 4-6 sorties throughout the day. Between flights, there is plenty to see, with static aircraft and exhibits throughout the museum.
- Food: we usually have a food vendor on the premises. We also offer water, coffee and tea at the volunteer station.
- Kids Activities: the Future Flyers table offers aviation-themed fun activities for kids. Please note that while we do offer activities, we do not offer child care, and we ask that parents keep a close watch on their children at all times while on the museum grounds.
- Phone Calls: we encourage you to call the museum with your questions before the event date. Unfortunately, we are unable to staff the office phones on Fly Days, as all staff are required in the hangars. You can check our website or Facebook at any time for information.
- Weather: this is a factor over which we have no control. If our scheduled Fly Day falls during iffy weather, we will do everything we can to get in a few flights. Please bring your patience when the skies look grim, we almost always get up before the day is over.
- Vehicle Parking: there are plenty of parking spaces, but there may be a long trek to the front door when attendance is good. Plan accordingly.
- Pets: not allowed on museum grounds except for registered service dogs.
- Fly ins: UPDATE -We now have a prearrangement procedure for arriving by air as a guest at HFM, whether during a Fly Day or during our regular open hours. Please review the information at this link before planning your trip.
